Number of years from 2001 to 2008 = 8

 Average production = Total production of salt from 2001 to 2008 tonnes Number of years from 2001 to 2008

 Average production = (40 + 30 + 70 + 25 + 55 + 50 + 80 + 90) × 1000 tonnes 8
