Direction: The marks obtained by 273 examinees are shown by the frequency polygon. Given that mean marks is 59.5. Study the frequency polygon and answer the given questions.

1. If 40 is the pass marks, percentage of students failed is

Number of students who got 40% or less marks = 2 + 4 + 12 + 26 = 44
Total number of students = 2 + 4 + 12 + 26 + 35 + 42 + 72 + 48 + 24 + 8 = 273

 ∴ Required percent = Number of students who got 40% or less marks × 100 Total number of students
