## Introduction to Data Interpretation

#### Data Interpretation

Direction: The pie- chart shows the percentage of literate and illiterate males and females in a state. Study the diagram and answer the following questions.

1. The difference of central angles corresponding to illiterate male and illiterate female is

1. On the basis of given pie chart in question ,
Percent of literate males = 8%
Percent of literate females = 12%
Required difference in percentage shares = 12 – 8 = 4%
As we know that , 100% ≡ 360°

##### Correct Option: D

On the basis of given pie chart in question ,
Percent of literate males = 8%
Percent of literate females = 12%
Required difference in percentage shares = 12 – 8 = 4%
As we know that , 100% ≡ 360°

 ∴ 4% ≡ 360 × 4 = 14.4 ° 100

1. If the difference between the two categories of people are represented by 36° in the diagram, then these categories are

1. As per the given pie chart in question ,
∵ 360° ≡ 100%

 ∴ 36° ≡ 100 × 36 = 10% 360

##### Correct Option: A

As per the given pie chart in question ,
∵ 360° ≡ 100%

 ∴ 36° ≡ 100 × 36 = 10% 360

∴ Difference between percentage shares of literate males literate and females = 45 – 35 = 10%
Hence , these categories are literate males and literate females .

1. If two categories together have a central angle of 169.2°, then these categories are

1. On the basis of given pie chart in question ,
Given that , central angle of two categories = 169.2°
∵ 360° ≡ 100%

 ∴ 169.2° ≡ 169 × 100 = 47% 360

So , Percentage share of literate females and illiterate females = (35 + 12)% = 47%

##### Correct Option: A

On the basis of given pie chart in question ,
Given that , central angle of two categories = 169.2°
∵ 360° ≡ 100%

 ∴ 169.2° ≡ 169 × 100 = 47% 360

So ,Percentage share of literate females and illiterate females = (35 + 12)% = 47%
Therefore , these categories are literate females and illiterate females .

Direction: Study the pie chart given below and answer the following questions.

1. If the miscellaneous charges are \$ 6000, then the advertisement charges are

1. According to given pie chart in question ,
Percentage of miscellaneous charges = 4%
∵ 4% ≡ \$ 6000

 ∴ 1% = 6000 4

##### Correct Option: B

According to given pie chart in question ,
Percentage of miscellaneous charges = 4%
∵ 4% ≡ \$ 6000

 ∴ 1% = 6000 4

 Now , 18% ≡ 6000 × 18 = \$ 27000 4

Direction: Study the following histogram of wage distribution of different number of workers and answer the given questions.

1. Number of workers who earn more than Rs. 950 is

1. As per the given above histogram , we can see
Number of workers whose wages between 950 to 960 = 10
Number of workers whose wages between 960 to 970 = 5
Number of workers whose wages between 970 to 980 = 3
Number of workers whose wages between 980 to 990 = 3
Number of workers whose wages between 990 to 1000 = 5

##### Correct Option: C

As per the given above histogram , we can see
Number of workers whose wages between 950 to 960 = 10
Number of workers whose wages between 960 to 970 = 5
Number of workers whose wages between 970 to 980 = 3
Number of workers whose wages between 980 to 990 = 3
Number of workers whose wages between 990 to 1000 = 5
Number of workers who earn more than Rs. 950 = 10 + 5 + 3 + 3 + 5 = 26
