A certain number of men can do a piece of work in 60 days. If there were 6 men more, the work can be finished 20 days earlier. The number of men working is :

Let the number of working men be x.
∴ M₁D₁ = M₂D₂
⇒ x × 60 = (x + 6) × 40
⇒ 3x = 2x + 12
⇒ 3x – 2x = 12
⇒ x = 12
