	√a

On squaring both sides,

4x² = a +	1	+ 2
	a

⇒ 4x² – 4 = a +	1	+ 2 – 4
	a

= a +	1	– 2
	a

= √a −	1
	√a

∴ √x² − 1 =	1		√a −	1
	2			√a

∴ Expression =	√x² − 1
	x − √x² − 1

=	1	(a − 1)
	2

If 2x = √a +	1	, a > 0, then the value of	x	is
	√a		x − √x² − 1
