  1. If a, b, c are real numbers and a2 + b2 + c2 = 2 (a – b – c) – 3, then the value of a + b + c is
    1. – 1
    2. 1
    3. 3
    4. 0
Correct Option: A

a2 + b2 + c2 = 2a – 2b – 2c – 3
⇒  a2 – 2a + 1 + b2 + 2b + 1 + c2 + 2c + 1 = 0
⇒  (a – 1)2 + (b + 1)2 + (c + 1)2 = 0
⇒  a – 1 = 0, b + 1 = 0, c + 1 = 0
⇒  a = 1, b = –1, c = –1
∴  a + b + c = 1 – 1 – 1 = –1
