Eight consecutive numbers are given. If the average of the two numbers that appear in the middle is 6, then the sum of the eight given numbers is

Let the first number be a.
∴ a + 3 + a + 4 = 2 × 6
⇒ 2a + 7 = 12
⇒ 2a = 5

⇒ a =	5

∴ a + (a + 1) + ....... + (a + 7) = 8a + 28

Required number = 8 ×	5	+ 28 = 20 + 28 = 48
