  1. The average of four consecutive even numbers is 15. The 2nd highest number is
    1. 12
    2. 18
    3. 14
    4. 16
Correct Option: D

Let four consecutive even numbers are y , y + 2 , y + 4 , y + 6.
The average of four consecutive even numbers = 15
⇒ y + y + 2 + y + 4 + y + 6 = 15 × 4
⇒ 4y + 12 = 60
⇒ 4y = 60 – 12 = 48
⇒ y = 48 ÷ 4 = 12
Hence, the numbers are 12, 14, 16, 18
∴ The second highest number is 16.
