  1. The graph of the equation 4x – 5y = 20 intersects the x-axis at the point
    1. (2, 0)
    2. (5, 0)
    3. (4, 5)
    4. (0, 5)
Correct Option: B

When a straight line cuts x axis, the coordinates of point of intersection = (x, 0), i.e., y = 0.
∴ Putting y = 0 in 4x – 5y = 20
4x = 20 Þ x = 5
∴ Point of intersection = (5, 0)
[Note : Putting y = 0 in 4x – 5y = 20, point of intersection onx-axis = (5, 0)
Putting x = 0 in 4x – 5y = 20,
point of intersection on y-axis = (0, –4).
