3x + 2y = 18 ...(i)
3y – 2x = 1 ...(ii)
By equation (i) × 2 + (ii) × 3 gives,

⇒ y = 3 Putting y = 3 in (ii)

∴ (p, q) = (4, 3) and hence, p + q = 7
