What will be the equation of line which passes through the point (–2, 3) and parallel to any other line 3x – 4y + 2 = 0

1. 3 x – 4y + 18 = 0
2. –3x + 4y + 12 = 0
3. x – 3y + 10 = 0
4. 2 x + 3y + 6 = 0

When two lines are parallel then their slopes are equal. i.e. m₁ = m₂
Here,
m₁ = m

m₁ =	- 3
	- 4

[From equation 3x – 4y + 2 = 0]

m₂ =	3
	4

As lines are parallel.
∴ m₁ = m₂

⇒ m =	3
	4

Let the equation of line be y – y₁ = m(x – x₁)
As line passes through (–2, 3)
∴ Equation of line be

(y - 3) =	3	(x + 2)
	4

4y – 12 = 3x + 6
3x – 4y + 18 = 0
