⇒ B got

= x –	65	x =	100x - 65x	=	65	x

A won the election by 2748 votes.
∴ Number of votes for A

=	35	x + 2748 ............(ii)

Form equations (i) and (ii),

⇒	65	x =	35	x + 2748
	100		100

⇒	30x	= 2748
	100

⇒ x =	2748 × 100	= 9160
	30

∴ Total number of votes cast = 9160
