  1. The sides of a rhombus are 10 cm each and a diagonal measures 16 cm. Area of the rhombus is
    1. 96 sq.cm
    2. 160 sq.cm
    3. 100 sq. cm
    4. 40 sq.cm
Correct Option: A

Using Rule 12,

AB = BC = CD = DA = 10 cm
AC = 16 cm
In ∆OAB OA = 8 cm
AB = 10 cm
∠AOB = 90°
∴ OB = √AB² - OA²
= √10² - 8²
= √(10 + 8)(10 - 8)
= √18 × 2 = √36
= 6 cm
∴ BD = 2 × OB = 2 × 6 = 12 cm
∴ Area of rhombus ABCD

=
1
d1 × d2
2

=
1
× 16 × 12 = 96 sq. cm.
