  1. A man buys 3 cows and 8 goats in $ 47,200. Instead if he would have bought 8 cows and 3 goats, he had to pay $ 53,000 more. Cost of one cow is:
    1. $ 11,000
    2. $ 12,000
    3. $ 13,000
    4. $ 10,000
Correct Option: B

Suppose the C.P. of a cow be p and that of a goat q.
According to question ,
3p + 8q = 47200 ....(i)
8p + 3q = 100200 ....(ii)
By equation (i) × 3 – (ii) × 8,
9p + 24q – 64p – 24q = 141600 – 801600
⇒ 55p = 660000

⇒ p =
660000
= $ 12000
