Single equivalent discount for 40% and 30%

=		40 + 30 −	40 × 30		%

= (70 – 12)% = 58%
Single equivalent discount for 45% and 20%

=		45 + 20 −	45 × 20		%
			100

= (65 – 9)% = 56%
Let the marked price be Rs. M.
According to the question,
M × (58 – 56)% = 12
