Single equivalent discount for two successive discounts of 30% and 6%

=		30 + 6 −	30 × 6		%

= ( 36 –1.8 ) % = 34.2 %
∴ S.P. of sewing machine = ( 100 – 34.2 ) % of Rs. 700

= Rs.		700 × 65.8		= Rs. 460.6

For the second shopkeeper,
Single equivalent discount

=		20 + 16 −	20 × 16		%
			100

= ( 36 – 3.2 )% = 32.8 %
∴ S.P. of sewing machine = 700 × ( 100 – 32.8 ) %
