The number of passengers travelled by air conditioned sleeper and ordinary sleeper classes were in the ratio 3 : 25. If the total collection was Rs. 37,000, how much did air conditioner sleeper passengers pay ?

Ratio of the railway fares of airconditioned and ordinary sleeper classes = 4 : 1
Ratio of the corresponding number of passengers = 3 : 25
Corresponding compound ratio = 4 × 3 : 1 × 25
= 12 : 25
Sum of the terms of ratio
= 12 + 25 = 37
∴ Total fare of the passengers of airconditioned sleeper classes

= Rs.		12	× 37000		= Rs. 12000
