  1. The sum of three consecutive natural numbers divisible by 3 is 45. The smallest number is :

Let the numbers be : 3x, 3x + 3 and 3x + 6
According to the question,
3x + 3x + 3 + 3x + 6 = 45
⇒  9x + 9 = 45
⇒  9x = 45 – 9 = 36

⇒  x =
36
= 4
9

∴  The smallest number
= 3x = 3 × 4 = 12
