A pipe can fill a tank in 24 hrs. Due to a leakage in the bottom, it is filled in 36 hrs. If the tank is half full, how much time will the leak take to empty the tank?

According to question ,

∴ Part of tank filled by pipe in an hour =	1
	24

Part of tank filled by leak in an hour =	1
	36

Part of tank emptied by leak in an hour =	1	-	1
	36		24

Part of tank emptied by leak in an hour =	2 - 3	=	- 1
	72		72

∴ Time taken in emptying the full tank = 72 hours
∴ Required time = 36 hours
