  1. The sides of a triangle are in the ratio 2 : 3 : 4. The perimeter of the triangle is 18 cm. The area (in cm2) of the triangle is
    1. 9
    2. 36
    3. 42
    4. 3√15
Correct Option: D

Using Rule 2 and 3,
Ratio = 2 : 3 : 4
= 4 : 6 : 8 Perimeter = 18 cm

∴ Semi-perimeters =
4 + 6 + 8
= 9
2

∴ Area of triangle = √s(s - a)(s - b)(s -c)
= √9(9 - 4)(9 - 6)(9 - 8)
= √9 × 5 × 3 × 1
= 3√15sq.cm.
