Using Rule 10,
Diagonal of square = √2 × side

=	3 - x	= √2 ×	1	(x + 1)
	√2		2

⇒ 3 - x = √2 × √2 ×	1	(x + 1)
	2

⇒ 3 – x = x + 1
⇒ x + x = 3 –1
⇒ 2x = 2 ⇒ x = 1 unit
