  1. The length of the base of an isosceles triangle is 2x – 2y + 4z, and its perimeter is 4x – 2y + 6z. Then the length of each of the equal sides is
    1. x + y
    2. x + y + z
    3. 2 (x + y)
    4. x + z
Correct Option: D

Let each of the equal sides of isosceles triangle be a units.
∴ Perimeter of triangle = 2a + base
∴ 2a + 2x – 2y + 4z
= 4x – 2y + 6z
⇒ 2a = 4x – 2y + 6z – (2x – 2y + 4z)
= (4x – 2x) + (2y – 2y) + (6z – 4z)

∴ a =
1
(2x + 2z) = x + y
2
