Let three consecutive even numbers be y , y + 2 and y + 4.
According to the question,

(y + y + 2 + y + 4) –	y + y + 2 + y + 4	= 28

⇒ (3y + 6) –	3y + 6	= 28

⇒ (3y + 6) – (y + 2) = 28
⇒ 3y + 6 – y – 2 = 28
⇒ 2y + 4 = 28
⇒ 2y = 28 – 4 = 24
