Direction: In each question below is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumption(s) is/are implicit in the statement.

  1. Statement
Even though the number of sugar factories is increasing at a fast rate in India, we still continue to import it from other countries.
    Assumptions
    I. Even the increased number of factories may not be able to meet the demand of sugar in India.
II. The demand for sugar may increase substantially in future.
    1. if only assumption I is implicit
    2. if only assumption II is implicit
    3. if either Assumption I or II is implicit
    4. if neither Assumption I nor II is implicit
Correct Option: A

Assumption I is implicit as it is this that makes us import sugar in spite of the increase in the number of sugar factories. Assumption II is invalid because "future" is beyond the scope of given statement.
