Direction: A table showing the percentage of the total population of a State by age groups for the year 1991 is given below. Answer the questions given below it.
-
If there are 10 millions people in the age group 56 years and above, what is the difference between the number of people in the age group 16 – 25 and 46 – 55?
-
- 6.8 millions
- 5.6 millions
- 28.4 millions
- 34.7 millions
Correct Option: B
On the basis of given table in question ,
Percent of population in the age group 56 years and above = 5.12 + 1.13 = 6.25
Now, 6.25% of population = 10 millions
∴ Total Population = | millions = 160 millions | 6.25 |
Difference in per cent of people in the age groups (16 – 25) and (46 – 55) = 17.75 – 14.25 = 3.5%
∴ The required difference = 3.5% of 160 millions
The required difference = | = 5.6 millions | 100 |
