Direction: Study the following table and answer the question given below:

  1. If 60% boys and 70% girls pass in their respective courses, then total pass percentage is :

  1. View Hint View Answer Discuss in Forum

    ∵ Total boys = 45 + 186 +120 +100 + 65 + 32 + 58 + 5 = 611

    Total number of girls = 25 + 23 + 25 + 12 + 25 + 20 + 12 + 3 = 145

    Correct Option: D

    ∵ Total boys = 45 + 186 +120 +100 + 65 + 32 + 58 + 5 = 611
    ∴ Number of boys who pass in their respective courses = 60% of 611 = 611 x 60/100 = 366.60
    Total number of girls = 25 + 23 + 25 + 12 + 25 + 20 + 12 + 3 = 145
    Number of girls who pass in their respective courses =70% of 145= 145 x 70/100 = 101.50
    ∴ Combined pass percent = (366.6 + 101.5) x 100/(611 + 145) = 46810/756 = 61.92 = 62%

Direction: Study the table carefully to answer the questions that follow.

  1. The number of students studying in class VII from school U forms what percent of the total number of students from all the classes together from that school ?

  1. View Hint View Answer Discuss in Forum

Total number of students of school U from all the classes = Total number of students from ( Class V + VI + VII + VIII + IX + X )
Required Percentage = Total number of students from class VII x 100 / Total number of students of school U from all the classes

    Correct Option: C

    Total number of students of school U from all the classes = 150 + 160 + 162 + 160 + 161 + 140 = 933
    Required Percentage = 162/933 x 100 = 17.36%

  1. What is the respective ratio of students studying in class IX of schools Q and R together to those studying in class VI of schools S and T together?

  1. View Hint View Answer Discuss in Forum

Total number of students of class IX of schools Q and R = Total number of students of class IX of (Schools Q + school R)
Total number of students of class VI of schools S and T = Total number of students of class VI of ( School S + School T)
Hence, required ratio = (Total number of students of class IX of schools Q and R) : (Total number of students of class VI of schools S and T)

    Correct Option: B

Total number of students of class IX of schools Q and R = Total number of students of class IX of (Schools Q + school R)
    Total number of students of class IX of schools Q and R = 157 + 143 = 300
Total number of students of class VI of schools S and T = Total number of students of class VI of ( School S + School T)
    Total number of students of class VI of schools S and T = 142 + 144 = 286
    Hence, required ratio = 300 : 286 = 150 : 143

Direction: The following table shows the number of students of 7 colleges A, B, C, D, E, F, G participating in extra-curricular activities :

  1. Percentage of the number of students in activity II to that of IV is :

  1. View Hint View Answer Discuss in Forum

As per given table , we can see that the
    Total number of students in activity II = 100 + 200 + 200 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 900
    Total number of students in activity IV = 317 + 155 + 438 + 105 + 385 + 280 + 120 = 1800

∴ Required percentage =Total number of students in activity II X 100 %
Total number of students in activity IV

    Correct Option: D

As per given table , we can see that the
    Total number of students in activity II = 100 + 200 + 200 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 900
    Total number of students in activity IV = 317 + 155 + 438 + 105 + 385 + 280 + 120 = 1800

∴ Required percentage =Total number of students in activity II X 100 %
Total number of students in activity IV

    ∴ Required percentage =900 X 100 = 50%
    1800

  1. The ratio of total number of students in II and I is :

  1. View Hint View Answer Discuss in Forum

    From above given table ,
    Total number of students in II = 100 + 200 + 200 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 900
    Total number of students in I = 200 + 300 + 500 + 100 + 400 + 300 + 200 = 2000
∴ Required ratio = total number of students in II : total number of students in I

    Correct Option: B

    From above given table ,
    Total number of students in II = 100 + 200 + 200 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 900
    Total number of students in I = 200 + 300 + 500 + 100 + 400 + 300 + 200 = 2000
∴ Required ratio = total number of students in II : total number of students in I
    Required ratio = 900 : 2000 = 9 : 20
