The program counter in a microprocessor

1. Counts the number of programs being executed on the microprocessor
2. Counts the number of instructions being executed on the microprocessor
3. Counts the number of interrupts handled by the microprocessor
4. Keeps the address of the next instruction to be fetched

The Program counter (PC) in a microprocessor keeps the address of the next instruction to be fetched.
