From above given graph , we can see that
Number of students from college A in 2003 = 20 × 103
Number of students from college A in 2004 = 40 × 103
Total increase in number of students in College A from 2004 to 2003 = 40 - 20 = 20 × 103
Percentage rise in number of students from college A in 2004

= total increase in number of students in College A from years 2004 to 2003 x 100%
total number of students in College A in year 2004

= 20 × 103x 100 = 100 %
20 × 103

And Number of students from college B in 2003 = 30 × 103
Number of students from college B in 2004 = 60 × 103
total increase in number of students in College B from years 2004 to 2003 = 60 - 30 = 30 × 103
Similarly,
Percentage rise in number of students from college B in 2004
= total increase in number of students in College B from years 2004 to 2003 x 100%
