Direction: Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and Read both the statements and give answer
- What was the cost price of the suitcase purchased by Samir?
I. Samir got 20 percent concession on the labeled price.
II. Samir sold the suitcase $ 2000 with 25 percent profit on the labeled price.

As per the given all details in above question , we have
Let the labelled price be $100.
From statement I , Concession on the labeled price = 20%
From statement II , Samir sold the suitcase = $ 2000 and profit = 25%
Combing both the statements together,
Now, SP of the suitcase = 125% of 100 = $125∴ Labelled price = 2000 x 100 = $ 1600 125 Correct Option: E

- What is the height of a triangle?
I. The area of the triangle is 20 times its base.
II. The perimeter of the triangle is equal to the perimeter of a square of 10 cm side.

On the basis of above given details in question ,
Let b be the base of triangle and h be height of triangle .
From statement II , The perimeter of the triangle = The perimeter of a square of 10 cm side.
⇒ 2s = 4 x 10 = 40 ⇒ s = 40 / 2 = 20 cm
From statement I , The area of the triangle = 20 x base.
⇒ ( 1 / 2 ) x b x h = 20 x b
⇒ h = 20 x 2 = 40 cm
Hence , the height of a triangle = 40 cmCorrect Option: A

Hence , the height of a triangle = 40 cm
Thus , the height can be determined with the help of statement I alone. correct answer is A .
- What percentage rate of simple interest per annum did Ashok pay to Sudhir?
I. Ashok borrowed $ 8000 from Sudhir for four years.
II. Ashok returned $ 8800 to Sudhir at the end of two years and settled the loan.
-

From statement I , Borrowed amount for four years ( P ) = $ 8000
From statement II , Returned amount ( A ) = $ 8800 , Time = 2 years
From statement I and II , we get
Compound Interest ( C.I. ) = A - P = 8800 - 8000 = $ 800
According to question,
Combining both the statements together,Correct Option: E
From statement I , Borrowed amount for four years ( P ) = $ 8000
From statement II , Returned amount ( A ) = $ 8800 , Time = 2 years
From statement I and II , we get
Compound Interest ( C.I. ) = A - P = 8800 - 8000 = $ 800
According to question,
Combining both the statements together,Rate of interest = 800 x 100 = 5 % 2 x 8000
- What is the speed of a running train?
I. The train crosses a signal post in 6 seconds.
II. The train crosses another train running in the opposite direction in 15 seconds.
-

On the basis of above given details in question , we have
From statement I , Time taken in crosses a signal post = 6 seconds
From statement II , Time taken in crosses a another train = 15 secondsCorrect Option: D
On the basis of above given details in question , we can say that
From statement I , Time taken in crosses a signal post = 6 seconds
From statement II , Time taken in crosses a another train = 15 seconds
Data even in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
- How many children are there in the class?
I. Numbers of boys and girls are in the respective ratio of 3 : 4.
II. Number of girls is more than the number of boys by 18.
-

On the given all information in above question , we can say that
From I : Ratio of boys and girls = 3k : 4k
From II : Number of girls − Number of boys = 18
From I and II : 4k − 3k = 18Correct Option: E
On the given all information in above question , we can say that
From I : Ratio of boys and girls = 3k : 4k
From II : Number of girls − Number of boys = 18
From I and II : 4k − 3k = 18
∴ k = 18
Now , total number of children in the class = Number of boys + Number of girls
∴ 4k + 3k = 7 × 18 = 126.
Hence , Combining statement I and statement II .
