Analog circuits miscellaneous

  1. The transistor circuit shown in the figure given below uses a silicon transistor with VBE = 0.7 V, IC ≈ IE and a dc current gain of 100. The value of V0 is

    1. 4.65 V
    2. 5 V
    3. 6.3 V
    4. 7.32 V
Correct Option: A

Given : IC ≈ IE
β = 100
IE ≈ IC = β IB
∴ IC ≈ IE = 100 IB
VCC – RB IB – VBE – IE RE = 0
∴ 10 – (10 kΩ × IB) – 0.7 – 100 IF = 0
⇒ 10 – 10 × 103 IB – 0.7 – 100 × 100 IB = 0
⇒ 10 – 10 IB – 0.7 – 10 IB = 0

⇒ IB =
9.3
=
0.93
mA = + 0.465 mA
202

∴ IE = 0.465 × 100 = 46.5 mA
∴ V0 = 100 × 46.5 mA
= 4650 mV = 4.65 V
