An un-stiffened web I section is fabricated from a 10 mm thick plate by fillet welding as shown in the figure. If yield stress of steel is 250 MPa, the maximum shear load that section can take

	depth	=	300 - 20	= 28 < 85
	thickness		10

V = d.t_ω.τ_va
τ_va = 0.4 × 250
= 100 N/mm²
∴ V = 300 × 10 × 100
= 300 × 10³ N
= 300 kN
