India was the host nation for the 1982 Asian Games held at Delhi, India from November 19 to December 4, 1982. India was ranked 5th with 13 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 25 bronze medals with a total of 57 over-all medals. In 2010, India created history by recording their best-ever performance in Guangzhou Asian Games with 64 medals, including 14 gold, with star boxer Vijender Singh providing the icing on the cake by bringing the last yellow metal on the penultimate day of the games.
