Little changes have taken place in the context of development demography of rural India in the past few decades. Obviously, positive signs are there but they are not up to the mark as anticipated. Yes, the numbers of primary school have increased. The situation of school education in rural India has also improved, but rural education still suffers from lack of qualified teachers, teachers absenteeism, unavailability of committed teachers, poor infrastructure, appropriate teaching methods etc. Phone lines have been extended to villages, but it is yet to reach most of the geographically-isolated, tribal and remote areas of rural India. Electricity supply in some parts of rural India is at best intermittent. Basic health care services are still limited in its availability, and unavailability of committed and qualified doctors are jeopardizing the rural health care system. Entertainment in village is mostly confined to radio or television, and that also gets interrupted by frequent power cuts.
