Correct Option: C
Muammar Gaddafi or Colonel Gaddafi served as the ruler of the Libyan Arab Republic from 1969 to 1977 and then the “Brother Leader” of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya from 1977 to 2011. He had been the world’s longest-ruling sitting leader (not counting royals). He fell short of the all-time record of 49 years set by Fidel Castro, as well as those of Chiang Kaishek (46 years) and Kim Il Sung (45 years.) Fidel Castro was Prime Minister of Cuba from 1959 to 1976, and President from 1976 to 2008. He also served as the Commander in Chief of the country’s armed forces, and as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, from the party’s founding in 1961 until 2011.
