Asthenosphere: Lower part of the mantle of the earth (semi-solid)

Inversion: Temperature inversion, a reversal of the normal behavior of temperature in the lower troposphere, in which a layer of cool air at the surface is overlain by a layer of warmer air. Normally air temperature usually decreases with height.

Lithosphere: Rigid outer part of the Earth consisting of the crust and upper mantle.

Mantle: Part of the Earth between crust and core
