    Deccan region has several natural depressions which could be used for the construction of tanks for irrigation purposes.

    Also, due to the nature of the terrain (mostly stony and rugged surface), it is difficult to construct wells or canals in the region.

    Hence, tanks are the preferred mode of irrigation in the Deccan region.
