Change in season cycle is due to the fact that Earth's geographical axis is tilted 23.5 degrees from its vertical axis.
And as the Earth revolves around the sun, it receives a different amount of insolation due to the apparent shift of the sun between the two hemispheres.
This causes varying lengths of day and night at different times of the year.
