Under the Third Five Year Plan, the government introduce an agricultural strategy which gave rise to green revolution in India. Under the Third Plan the goal was to establish self reliance and self generating economy. But the earlier plans had shown that the agricultural production was the limiting factor so agriculture was given top priority.
