What is the full form of BUN?
-
The full form of BUN is Blood Urea Nitrogen. It is a test used to measure urea and nitrogen level in the blood. BUN test help to know how well your kidney is working, if urea and nitrogen level is not in the normal range that means your kidney and liver are not working properly.
Urea and nitrogen are produced by the liver, both are a waste product that the body produced after eating, liver breakdown the protein and it creates urea and nitrogen. The liver releases these substances in the blood and finally, it filtrated out by the kidney.
If the BUN level is increased in the body, that means the kidney is not able to filter out the waste product and it is a signal that your kidney is not functioning properly.
