The full form of TBI is Traumatic Brain Injury.it is a brain injury that disturbs the normal function of the brain.TBI caused when the brain is suddenly hit with the object or when objects enter into the brain tissue.TBI happens generally due to road accident, car accident, sports injuries, accident at the workplace or home, falls, etc.
TBI is a major cause of death and disability in young adults and children every year.
Types of Traumatic Brain Injury
These are the common type of TBI:
Penetrating Injury
It occurs when an object penetrates into the brain and skull.
Coup-Contrecoup Brain Injury
It is an impact on the brain which causes the brain to slam into the opposite side of the site of impact. in this injury brain opposite and impact side is damage.
Brain Contusion
In this type of injury mild bleeding occurs under the skin.
Second Impact Syndrome
The effect of the second impact syndrome depends upon the location of the injury, the severity of pervious injury.it will take a longer time to heal and it can also produce scar on injury area.
Shaken Baby Syndrome
It is similar as diffuse axonal injury, In this syndrome, babies suffer from brain hemorrhages, strokes, broken blood vessels, and tears in the brain and brain stem.
