The full form of NET is National Eligibility Test.NET is a national level entrance test conducted for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. This exam was conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) every year(two times in a year) all over India. it is considered as one of the toughest exams in India.

    NET qualification is mandatory in the teaching and research field, without Qualifying NET candidates are not eligible for taking admission in Indian universities and government colleges.

    In 2013 UGC announced that the candidates who clear the NET exams would be eligible for jobs in public sector undertakings (PSUs). they can use UGC-NET scores for the recruitment process in their organizations, Like, Research&develpoment, management, human resources, and finance field.

    Eligibility


    Candidate must be Master’s Degree holders or equivalent from recognized universities in Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc.with minimum 55% marks(for reserved candidate 50%) are eligible for this test.

    Candidate in the final year of the master’s program or waiting for results can also apply for the exam.

    Candidate must not be more than 30 years of age as on applying date to apply for Junior Research Fellowship.

    Up to 5years of age relaxation for SC, ST OBC, PWD, Women and Transgender candidates.

    Cut off percentage


    The NET question paper will be divided into 2 papers, paper -1 &2. the candidates would have to attempt both papers 1 &2 which contain 150 questions.

    Total Time Duration is 3hours for completing the paper.

    The qualifying cut off marks for General category is 40%while the qualifying cut off marks for SC, ST, OBC, PWD, and Transgender categories are 35%.

    For lectureship, the aggregate cut off marks for - General category is between 54-60, for OBC NCL it is 49-56, for SC/ST it is 45-54 and for EWS it is 48-58.
