  1. The full form of DSP is Deputy Superintendent of Police. DSP is a rank of a police officer in the Indian police force. DSP is a state police officer who represents the state police force. The rank symbol of this officer is a national emblem above one star on the shoulder strap.

    DSP rank is equivalent to Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) and could be elevated to IPS following not many long periods of administration relying upon the guidelines of state government.
    Every year examination conducted to appoint a police officer directly to the DSP post. Inspectors are also promoted to DSP rank after the specified number of years service.

    How to become DSP officer?


    The candidate who wants to become a DSP officer must have to appear in the State level exam conducted by the State Public Service Commission. The candidates who successfully pass this exam undergo probationary training before they are posted as DSP.

    Eligibility criteria for DSP


    1.The candidate must be an Indian resident

    2.The candidate must be between the age of 21to 30 years old.

    3. For SC/ST candidate 5-year relaxation is available in the upper age limit

    4. Candiate must have graduated in any stream from a recognized university/institute.

    5. The minimum height required for the male applicant is 168 cms and for a female applicant is 155 cms.

    6. For male candidate minimum chest required is 84 cms with a minimum chest expansion of 5 cms.

    Selcetion process


    The selection process for the DSP post is divided into three categories:

    Written Exam (Preliminary and Main Exam)
    Candidate must have to clear both pre and main written paper.

    Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Shortlisted candidates are required to clear PET within the time limit of the test.

    Interview and Medical The final selection of the candidate is depending on the face to face interview and general medical examination.
