The full form of YMCA is the Young Men's Christian Association. It is an international non-governmental organization that provides a space for safety, growth, and promotion of good health to youth and family. YMCA is also known as Y. It was founded on 6 June 1844 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. YMC is founded by Sir George Williams in London with the aim to practice Christian principles by building up a solid body, brain, and soul. It has more than 64 million members in 120 countries.
YMCA work globally on the federation model each local YMCA is affiliated with its national organization,(National Council) and offers different programs as per the need of the local community. Every nearby, national and local YMCA is autonomous of one another, however, neighbourhood, territorial and universal participation, associations and coordinated efforts are a piece of the associations work. First YMCA World Conference in Paris, 1855 with 99 young delegates from nine countries.
