  1. The full form of CRPF is the Central Reserve, Police Force. CRPF is the largest Central Armed Police Force in India. It is formed on 27 July 1939 with the motto of Service and Loyalty
    CRPF works under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India. Its primary role is assisting the State and Union Territories police to maintain the law and order in their territories.

    CRPF headquarter is in New Delhi and APMaheshwari is the director-general of CRPF. The government of India has established the CRPR academy to train the young candidates .as of 2019 CRPF has 246 battalions and strength of more than 300,000 personnel.

    History of CRPF


    1. CRPF is formed on 27 July 1939 with 2 battalions in Nimach, and CRPF was derived from Crown Representative's Police.

    2. In 1949, the CRP was renamed under the CRPF Act.

    3. On 21 October 1959, 20 soldiers were attacked by the Chinese Army in Ladakh out of the 20, 10 soldiers died for the country. To honour the martyrdom of these soldiers, October 21 is remembered as the Police Commemoration Day.

    4. Until 1965, CRPF was guarding the India-Pakistan Border later BSF was posted to guard the border.

    5. In 2001 Indian Parliament attack the CRPF soldiers killed all the five terrorists.

    6. In 2008 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action wing (CoBRA) was added with CRPF to counter the Naxalite operations.

    7. On 2 September 2009, 5000 CRPF soldiers were Posted rescue Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy whose helicopter went missing.
