The full form of MOES is the Ministry of Earth Science. The ministry taking care of Atmospheric Sciences, Ocean Science & Technology, and Seismology. It was formed in 2006 and headquartered in New Delhi. The current Secretary is Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
Vision
To excel as expertise and era agency in the earth system technology realm toward socio-monetary gain of the society.
Mission
To provide offerings for weather, climate, ocean and coastal state, hydrology, seismology, and herbal dangers; to discover and harness marine residing and non-living sources in a sustainable manner.
Functions of MOES
1. To establish forecasting capability of atmosphere and oceanic by dynamical models and assimilation technique.
2. Make a build prediction system for weather climate and their hazards.
3. To explore polar and high seas areas for new discovery phenomenon and resources.
4. Increase and sustain long time observations of ecosystem, ocean, cryosphere and strong earth to document the crucial symptoms of Earth machine and adjustments.
5. To know the interconnection between components of Earth Systems and human systems at diverse spatial and temporal scales.
