The full form of SEBI is the Securities and Exchange Board of India. It is owned by the government of India which regulates and monitors the securities market of India. It was founded on 12th April 1988 and headquartered in Mumbai. Ajay Tyagi is the current chairman of SEBI. It has 4 regional offices in
(New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmadabad )and 17 local offices in India.
Objective
To preserve the interest of buyers in investment and promote the development of the capital market.
Members of SEBI
The chairman is nominated by the Union Government of India.
One member nominated from the Reserve bank of India.
Five members are nominated by Union Government of India, out of five members three must be whole-time members.
