  1. The full form of ICDS is Integrated Child Development Services. It is a program run by the government of India for the development of children under 6 years of age and their mothers. This program majorly focuses on food, primary healthcare, immunization, health check-up, pre-school education, and referral services.
    This program is introduced in 1975 but discounted in 1978 by the government of Morarji Desai, then re-launched by the Tenth Five Year plan.
    This plan connect ICDS to Anganwadi centers in the rural area which is managed by Anganwadi workers. These Anganwadi workers are responsible for prenatal, postnatal care, immunization, food distribution, etc.

    Objectives of ICDS


    1. To upgrade the health and nutritional level of children under 6 years of age and their mother.

    2. To run a program for proper psychological, physical, and social development of the child.

    3.To decreases the mortality, morbidity, malnutrition, and school dropout.

    4. To enhance the ability of the mother to seem once the conventional health and nutritionary want of the child through correct nutrition and health education.

    5. To accomplish successful co-ordination of policy and implementation amongst the various departments to encourage child development.
