The full form of BBC is British Broadcasting Corporation. It is the world's oldest and largest broadcasting network. It was founded on 18 October 1922 under the royal charter and headquartered in Broadcasting HouseLondon. Sir David Clementi is current chairman of the BBC. It is publicly financed corporation and the fee is set by the British government.
BBC offered various public services like Publication, radio, television broadcast, and other online services covering the whole UK. BBC also provide worldwide service in USA, China, India, Brazile, France, etc, which broadcast in 28 languages, Its news channel is quite popular across the world. The major part of revenue comes from its commercial subsidiary BBC Studios which deals in programs and services and BBC news internationally.
BBC History
1.BBC was founded by John Reith and George Villiers on 18 October 1922, Scottish Calvinist, was appointed its General Manager in December 1922 it broadcasted its first official broadcast from Marconi's studio in London.
2. In 1927 British broadcast established under the Royal charter then its name was changed from British Broadcasting Company to British Broadcasting Corporation.
3. BBC started television services in 1936.
4. During the second world war, television services were suspended from September 1939 to June 1946.
5. In 1967 local radio station were established.
6. In 1974, the BBC's Teletext service, Ceefax, was introduced.
7. In 1997, BBC introduced BBC online website worldwide.
8 In 1999 BBC Knowledge was introduced as a multimedia channel.
9. In December 2007 BBC Official HD was launched.
