1. peak value, irrespective of the nature of the waveform
2. average value, for all waveforms
3. rms value for all waveforms
4. rms value, for symmetrical square waveform

Rectifier moving coil instruments respond to average value for all waveforms but the calibration is in rms value for sinusoidal waveforms.
