Sir Syed Ahmed Khan founded the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875 with the aim of promoting social and economic development of Indian Muslims. Ahmad Khan helped form the All-India Muslim League (AIML). His educational proposals and political activism inspired Muslim elites to support the AIML.
